When I first imagined the logo for Walker V Painting, I pictured an archer at full draw—aiming with intention, discipline, and confidence. The archer symbolizes the pursuit of excellence. Every pull of the bowstring is a commitment: I’ve done this a hundred times before, and this shot will hit its mark.
That’s the journey I’ve lived as a Bozeman painter and business owner.

When I started Walker V Painting, I wasn’t a great painter. I was decent—especially with exterior work—but I was far from excellent. My first mentor, a kind and encouraging old-school painter, believed in me and gave me the confidence to strike out on my own. But while his faith in me was invaluable, the training I received was rooted in practices that were already a decade out of date.
So, when it came to interiors, I had a steep learning curve. My first couple of years in business were spent re-educating myself and pushing through the gaps in my knowledge. I realized quickly: being “okay” wasn’t going to cut it if I wanted to serve Bozeman homeowners at the level they deserved.
In those early years, I carried over habits from my mentor’s style of painting: get it done fast, move on to the next job, repeat. That production mindset works for some, especially when serving budget-focused clients. But it left me frustrated because I wanted to slow down, do things the right way, and aim higher.
Over time, I saw the reality of Bozeman’s market:
I wanted to serve the above average tier—the homeowners who care deeply about their space and value long-lasting quality.
The challenge was, as a solopreneur, I hit my ceiling fast. I was doing estimates, painting, quality control, payroll, scheduling, client communication—you name it. When I focused on painting, the business side suffered. When I focused on business, the painting suffered.
That’s when I realized something crucial: if I wanted to deliver excellence, I couldn’t do it alone.
About a year and a half ago, I hired my first lead painter. That decision changed everything. By bringing in people who were better painters than me, I could step back and focus on leadership, client care, and the details that make a project truly exceptional.
From there, we developed a system where every project became an opportunity to refine our process. Excellence, after all, doesn’t mean perfection the first time—it means committing to improve every time.
That’s the trajectory we’ve followed at Walker V Painting.
Today, I can confidently say our team is producing some of the best work in the Gallatin Valley. Clients and contractors alike tell us that our finishes, our professionalism, and our service stand out.
But this isn’t the finish line. It’s just another step in the journey. Excellence means we keep aiming higher—with every brushstroke, every estimate, every project.
At Walker V Painting, we’re here to help Bozeman homeowners achieve meaningful paint jobs. Not rushed, not average, but excellent.
